Performance Biography
Mr. Shetler’s 20 year performance career include the following leading roles: Curley in OKLAHOMA,
Woody in FINNIAN’S RAINBOW, King Arthur in CAMELOT, Joey in MOST HAPPY FELLA, The Captain in H.M.S.
PINAFORE, King Hildebrand in PRINCESS IDA, Fitzwilliam Darcey in FIRST IMPRESSIONS, The Immigrant in
ONE CENT PLAIN, El Gallo in THE FANTASTICS, Sebastian in YOUR OWN THING directed by Donald Driver, Dick in
DAMES AT SEA directed by Neal Kenyon, Ham in TWO BY TWO (with Milton Berle), the Jazz Pianist in Leonard
Bernstein’s MASS at the Mark Taper Forum in LA, The Man in STARTING HERE, STARTING NOW directed by Richard
Maltby Jr., Nick Arnstein in FUNNY GIRL with Rosalind Harris, Pontius Pilot & Judas in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR,
was the original Claude in the San Francisco
production of HAIR and repeated that role on Broadway at the old Biltmore Theater, Dr. Jazz (standby) in
Donnie McHale’s production of DR. JAZZ at the Winter Garden, Paris in Andre Serban’s production of
AGAMMEMNON at both the Vivian Beaumont in Lincoln Center and the Delacort Theatre in Central Park
and was the Musical Coordinator for Gower Champion’s ROCK-A-BYE HAMLET at the Minskoff Theatre.
In addition to his performance carreer he has directed and/or produced 70 to 80 shows, cabaret performances,
recording sessions, films and TV pilots and while still performing composed a film score for Julie Corman
and New Word Pictures titled CANDY STRIPPED NURSE, had a staged reading at Circle in the Square of his
play DEATH’S WAIT about inmates on death row in Boulder CO. released an Album with the ledgendary
guitarist Herb Ellis, had his own band, starred in a cult classic film, DAY OF THE WOMAN and did a
special layout for Playboy Magazine in the May 1973 issue.
Union affiliations and participation includes the Actor’s Equity Association, Screen Actor’s Guild,
American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, American Guild of Variety Artists, the New York
chapter of the Musician’s Union Local 802, National Association Of Singing Teachers (NATS), Musical
Theatre Chairman and Board member of th New York Singing Teacher's Association (NYSTA), and a faculty member
of The Voice Foundation (an international organization of voice doctors, surgeons, research scientists,
voice pathologists, speech, voice and singing teachers, designed to ongoingly exchange the latest information
available from each area).
